Wall Waterproofing in Cape Town
Painted over the damp patch and it came back? Water penetrating through an exterior wall is a waterproofing problem, not a paint problem - repainting without addressing the source just delays the next patch of damp.

How water gets into walls
Exterior walls take on water through cracks, poor or failed waterproof coatings, exposed brickwork, and areas where water is directed against the wall by poor drainage or roof runoff. Once water is inside the wall, it shows up as damp, staining or peeling paint on the inside - sometimes a distance from where it actually entered.
Signs of a wall waterproofing problem
Damp patches that reappear after painting, a musty smell in a room against an exterior wall, visible cracks in exterior render or brickwork, and paint that bubbles or peels are all signs the waterproofing - not the paint - needs attention.
Our approach to wall waterproofing
We assess where water is actually entering the wall, which is not always the same spot as where the damp shows up inside. From there we recommend a suitable waterproofing solution for that wall and problem, and carry out the repair.
Repairs to existing wall waterproofing
Where a wall has been previously waterproofed and is failing again, we assess whether the issue is a localised crack or a broader failure of the coating before recommending repair or re-application.

Frequently asked questions
I keep repainting the damp patch and it keeps coming back - why?
Paint doesn't stop water ingress on its own - if water is still getting into the wall from outside, it will keep coming through. The wall needs to be waterproofed at the point water is entering, not just repainted on the inside.
Is this rising damp or a wall waterproofing problem?
They're different issues with different causes. Where the damp is appearing and its pattern help indicate which it is - this is something we can assess.
Do you waterproof interior or exterior walls?
Wall waterproofing to stop water ingress is applied on the exterior, at the source of water entry.
